Extends Systems Management Across the Enterprise
Tone Software Corporation announced the availability
of dramatically expanded system and device management
facilities in the CompuLert Enterprise Management Solution.
CompuLert is deployed in many Fortune 500 computing
centers to comprehensively monitor and manage distributed
systems and hardware, including the legacy systems and
environmental devices that escape most network management
and framework products.
Now, CompuLert extends management capabilities to the
far-reaching corners of the enterprise, enabling IS
to monitor and control UPS devices, remote modem-accessible
devices, and most notably, the rapidly increasing population
of Windows NT servers rolling into many IS centers.
Through powerful new CompuLert facilities, IS personnel
can deploy comprehensive enterprise operations monitoring
and control to all aspects of the computing environment,
including:
- Powerful
Windows NT Server Management - CompuLert proactively
monitors all Windows NT server activity, correlating
events with overall enterprise operations, and automatically
alerting key personnel of abnormal conditions or
exceptions. CompuLert's unique design enables IS
to directly access the managed NT system for diagnostics,
problem resolution, and remote reboot from any CompuLert
workstation located across the room or across the
globe.
- UPS
Device Management Facilities - CompuLert now
manages Uninterruptible Power Supplies, continuously
monitoring UPS devices for any change of state,
power level fluctuations, or low battery conditions
to ensure these seldom-used but crucial devices
are always operational and ready to perform at peak
levels.
- Enhanced
Remote Management Capabilities - CompuLert remote
system management facilities have been further expanded
to support dial-up modem connectivity when standard
RS232 or network TCP/IP connections are not feasible.
CompuLert automatically establishes modem communication
between the CompuLert host and the remote entity,
enabling CompuLert to fully manage the activity
and performance of the remote entity on an as needed
or permanent basis.
- Expanded
Alarm Management and Diagnostics Tools - CompuLert
now provides Alarm correlation facilities to automatically
correlate alarm frequency, source, and content for
more targeted alarm generation, enabling users to
acknowledge alarms and resolve problems with greater
speed and accuracy. CompuLert also offers enhanced
diagnostic and troubleshooting through expanded
search engine capabilities designed to instantly
pinpoint event log information and further expedite
problem resolution.
"As the pace of global business continues to accelerate,
the demands for increased IS capacity and versatility
have exponentially skyrocketed," stated Tone Software
President and CEO John W. Hutchison. "CompuLert's
unparalleled abilities to monitor and manage every aspect
of corporate computing resources enables corporate IS
to deliver topnotch service levels around the clock,
while meeting budget and staffing goals which enhance
the overall corporate bottom line," he concluded.

Manages Novell Netware Servers Throughout the Enterprise
Tone
Software Corporation announces the immediate availability
of complete Novell Netware management capabilities through
the CompuLert Enterprise Management Solution. CompuLert
monitors, manages, and automates operations across distributed
systems and hardware, including legacy systems and environmental
devices that escape most network management and framework
products.
TIS organizations invested heavily in Novell Netware
to support local network computing, but the sheer quantity
of deployed Netware servers now challenges IS staff
to effectively maintain Netware operations and server
availability. CompuLert provides IS organizations with
a consolidated layer of management across all distributed
Novell Netware resources to proactively monitor operations,
report all exceptions, alert key personnel of potential
problems, and automatically initiate corrective procedures.
IS organizations can rely on CompuLert to
maintain Netware operations throughout the enterprise,
and should staff intervention be necessary, CompuLert's
direct access design enables IS personnel to fully control
Netware servers at the console keyboard level to:
- Directly
access the Netware server console for diagnostics
and problem resolution from any CompuLert local
or remote workstation.
- Directly
access Netware server event logs and data for
historical and statistical analysis from any CompuLert
local or remote workstation.
- Reboot
the Netware server, if necessary, from any CompuLert
local or remote workstation, across the room or
across the globe.
"CompuLert's
extensive Novell Netware management capabilities provide
today's IS organizations with a powerful advantage in
obtaining peak performance and service levels from their
Novell Netware population - as well all IS resources" stated
Tone Software Corporation President and CEO, John W.
Hutchison.
